The Nasarawa State Head of Civil Service, Abigail Waya, has expressed her admiration for the appointment of Hon. Barr. Isaac Danladi as the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, describing it as a testament to the value of experienced civil servants in governance.
While welcoming the commissioner to her office, Waya emphasized that his appointment is a source of pride and motivation for the civil service, highlighting that it reinforces the idea that retirees can still contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
“This appointment is not only a recognition of your competence but also an encouragement to the civil service. It shows that experienced officers can be recalled to serve in higher capacities, even immediately after retirement. I have no doubt in your ability to deliver excellently,” she stated.
She further stressed the importance of the Ministry of Environment, noting its relevance to all sectors of society.
Earlier, Commissioner Isaac Danladi had paid a courtesy visit to the Head of Civil Service to express his gratitude and seek collaboration. He lauded Waya’s role in mentoring him throughout his career and assured her of his commitment to serving the state diligently.
“I want to assure you that I will never take this appointment for granted. I will make you proud, I will make His Excellency the Governor proud, and I will make Nasarawa State proud,” Danladi affirmed.
He also acknowledged the crucial role of the Head of Civil Service in facilitating projects under the Ministry of Environment. Specifically, he highlighted the need for cooperation in implementing the European Investment Bank (EIB) environmental project in the state.
Danladi noted that the state government has fulfilled key requirements, including the provision of counterpart funding and vehicles, but emphasized the need for an operational office to enable the project team to function effectively.
The meeting concluded with both officials reaffirming their commitment to fostering a strong partnership between the Office of the Head of Civil Service and the Ministry of Environment to drive environmental sustainability and governance in Nasarawa State.
