From Our Correspondent In Makurdi
Dr Priscilla Gondo-Aluor, the North Central Zonal Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), has advised staff of the agency to discharge their duties devoid of politics.
Gondo-Aluor gave the advice during her working visit to the Benue Directorate on Tuesday in Makurdi.
She encouraged them not to be taking sides with political parties but must remain neutral and they should ensure they support all government policies and programmes, emphasising that their responsibility was to communicate government policies and programmes at all times.
“Local government postings are key to the success of the agency’s policies and programmes, therefore, staff should be posted to where they will be very useful to the agency and to the community where they are posted to.
“You should believe in what you are doing in order to make impact because it is only a passionate worker that makes more impact.
“You must take ownership of the mandate of the agency by understanding all the policies and programmes of the agency irrespective of your departments so as to do your jobs diligently,” Gondo-Aluor said.
She commended the Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu for making frantic efforts to reposition the agency, adding that the DG’s efforts were a wake-up call for staff to rise up to their responsibilities and execute the agency’s mandate.
Earlier, the Acting State Director of the agency, Mr Mark Dewua, appreciated God for elevating Gondo-Aluor to the position of the pioneer zonal director in charge of North Central, stressing that her elevation was a clear manifestation of her capacity, hard work and.vast experience that she had garnered over the years.
Dewua informed the zonal director that the state directorate had 106 staff that were working at the state office and in the 23 local government areas, lamenting that the number was grossly inadequate owing to the enormity of their task.
He, however, pointed out that despite the shortage of manpower, but with the cooperation and good relationship of the staff, they had been delivering on the agency’s mandate and the transformation agenda of the DG.
He further appreciated the DG for restructuring the agency and repositioning it as a driver of value reorientation and national development.
