In a significant development ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial elections, prominent lawyer Daniel A. Noah Osa-Ogbegie, known for his close association with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Osa-Ogbegie, who has been a staunch supporter of Ize-Iyamu, expressed deep reservations about the party’s readiness to secure victory in the upcoming election.
In his resignation letter addressed to the chairman of Ward 2 in Uhunmwode local government area, Osa-Ogbegie criticized the APC’s choice of candidates, particularly Senator Monday Okpebholo and Representative Dennis Idahosa, as lacking the capability to provide effective leadership for Edo State. He emphasized his commitment to an “Edo renaissance” led by capable and principled leaders rooted in the aspirations of the Edo people.
Osa-Ogbegie’s departure from the APC underscores growing discontent within the party ranks and adds a new dimension to the unfolding political landscape in Edo State. His decision highlights concerns over the party’s electoral strategy and leadership choices, injecting fresh uncertainty into an already fiercely contested gubernatorial race.
