Niger Police Commissioner and Security Chiefs Assess Disputed Land in Doko Community, Niger State, Amid Ongoing Land Dispute

As part of a move to bring a lasting end to the lingering land dispute in Doko Community of Lavun Local government area of Niger State, the newly posted Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Ebenezer Shawulu Dan Maman on Tuesday took on a spot assessment visit to the disputed land.

On the entourage of the Commissioner of Police are the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security Brig.general Mohammed Bello (Rtd)and other security chiefs in Niger State.

The visitors, it was gathered during their visit had a brief stop over at the Doko Divisional Police Command where the Commissioner of Police and his entourage had an in-house discussion with the men and officers of the Doko Divisional Command.

Immediately after their visit to the Divisional Command, findings revealed that they proceeded to the disputed land along with some Community leaders and stakeholders of Doko Community to get first hands brief on the disputed land.

The Commissioner of Police visit to Doko may not be unconnected with the press statement issued by the President of Doko Progressive Forum (PDF) Col. Jiya Mahmud Liman (Rtd),, appealing to governor Umar Mohammed Bago to intervene in bringing peace in the community.

In apparent response to the press statement, governor Umar Mohammed Bago swiftly put a call to the Commissioner of Police to mobilize other security chiefs in the state to take on the spot assessment visit to the disputed land and look into way of ensuring peace in Doko Community.

However, the Commissioner of Police and his entourage only visited the disputed land along with some critical stakeholders and some Community leaders as well as the current Etsu Dazhi of Doko Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi Madiu.


The Commissioner did not address the stakeholders “he only visited the disputed land and commended his men for their efforts in maintenance of law and order in the community” a source who was on the entourage of the visitors told newsline.

Speaking in a telephone interview with the Trumpet, Etsu Dazhi of Doko, Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi Madiu called on governor Umar Mohammed Bago to as a matter of urgency to assist in restoring peace and security in Doko Community.

He noted with dismay the continued proportion of insecurity been perpetrated by some disgruntled elements in Doko over the disputed land calling on the governor to for the over all interest of peace and security of his subjects to Wade into the dispu

According to the monarch the disputed land has over the years have been under the control of his predecessors, he wonder why some few individuals in Doko town will Claimed ownership of the land for their wicked motive aimed at coursing Insecurity under his leadership.

Speaking, further, the traditional ruler also expressed worried that inspire the court injunction restraining both parties from farming on the land
” yet some people within Doko Community refused to comply with the court injunction and they still go about threatened my own subjects with dangerous weapons.

” I’m appealing to the governor of Niger State Rt.Hon Mohammed Umar Bago and the Chief Judge of Niger State Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik to prevail on the Judiciary to expedite speedy dispensation of the Judgement in the interest of peace and Justice in the community” he declared.

While admonishing on his subjects to always remain law abiding in the maintenance of peace and harmonious co-existence under any provacation, Alhaji Yahaya Abdullahi Madiu assured that he has confidence in governor Umar Mohammed Bago that he will bring an end to lingering land dispute in Doko Community.
