From SULEIMAN ABUBAKAR

Chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Mr Francis Orogu has alleged that the recent protest by indigenes of the State residing in Lagos State over the alleged sale of the state’s Liaison Office located at Victoria Island, Lagos was orchestrated by Governor Abdullahi Sule to witch hunt his predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Orogu made this known this while fielding questions from journalists on the protest staged by indigenes of the State under the aegis of Nasarawa State Development Association, Lagos State chapter on Sunday in Lagos.
According to him, this was because Governor Sule was no longer on the same page politically with his predecessor and benefactor, Senator Al-Makura.
The opposition leader challenged Governor Sule to tell the people of the state of his role in the sale of the state property following the approval of the State Assembly in September 2017.
He also asked Governor Sule to tell the people of the state the owner of the Apapa property sold for ₦80 million rather than robbing his predecessor into his administration’s involvement in the sale of the state owned properties.
Meanwhile, the State Assembly has set up a 9-man Adhoc committee chaired by Majority Whip, Larry Ven-Bawa to probe the alleged sales of state owned properties in Lagos and other states.
The Liaison Office alongside other landed assets belonging to the State in Plateau, Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja had been sold in 2018 by the then administration of Umaru Tanko Al-Makura following approval from the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA).
A Coalition of Nasarawa State Youths and Students Committee chaired by Barrister Moses Yakubu Ede had recommended the sale of the landed assets following a sponsored assessment tour.
The Members of the committee include Taimako Sunday Anyuabuga, Umar Yusuf, Umar Ibrahim, Ahmed Adamu Zanwa, Ibrahim Thaddeus Maiyanga, Jennifer Joseph, Happiness Daniel, Ali Mohammed Doma and Hon. Abdul-Rahman Andoma Ahmad as Secretary.
