The Rotary Club of Jos South says the club has made the promotion of peace and conflict resolution its topmost priority in the current rotary year.
The club President, Mrs Doris Daniel stated this during her investiture in Jos.
Daniel said that Plateau has witnessed different crisis and conflicts in the recent times and there was need for everyone to work for enduring peace in the state.
“Peace and conflict resolution awareness campaign in Jos North, Jos South and Bassa will be our topmost priority.
“We will work with relevant stakeholders in those areas to ensure that enduring peace reigns.
“Apart from peace, skills acquisition/empowerment for girl-child will also be out priority.
“Another area of priority is provision of milling/grinding machines to widows.
“Provision of toilet facilities/drilling of boreholes in some public schools,” she said.
Chief Emmanuel Vontau, outgone president of the club, assured his successor of his support and collaboration to enable her succeed.
Vontau said that the club was second out of 147 clubs in the district in the area polio eradication efforts during his time and expressed optimism that Daniel would surpass his achievements.
Brig. Gen. Chukwuemaka Udaya (Retd), a member of the club, said that members and their friends would use their treasure, time and talents to ensure that the set goals were achieved.
Udaya stated that Rotary International was committed to impacting the lives particularly those of the less privildged.
