The Lafia local government legislative council has passed into law a bill for a Bye law to regulate the Operation of road transport (vehicle) association and motor park in Lafia local government area and other related matters thereto 2023.
This was announced by the Speaker of Hon. Philibus Yohanna Attah, said the legislatures passed the bill into law during is proceedings in Lafia.
The bill which was sponsored by Councilor Representing Akurba, ward, Hon.Egga Lucky Obele and Chairman legislative committee on Works, housing and transport.
” In pursuant to the Lafia Local Government legislative Council by constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and Nasarawa State local government law enacted on 22nd May, 2018 the bill seeks to regulate and impose penalty on the activities of the association of commercial road transport (Vehicle) within Lafia local government area of Nasarawa State. According to the speaker.
” A Bill for a Bye law to regulate the operation of road transport (vehicle) association and motor parks in Lafia local government area and other related matters therewith 2023 is read third term and passed,” he said
He directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the Executive Chairman of Lafia Local Government Council Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata’s assent.
Earlier, Hon. Musa Masi Bala, councillor representing Zanwa electoral ward moved a motion for the bill to scale third reading.
Hon. Mustapha Shehu Ali, councillor representing Assakio electoral ward seconded the motion.
The House unanimously passed the bill into third reading.
In the same vain, the Honourable Councilor representing Akurba electoral ward Hon. Egga Lucky Obele presented a Bill of a Bye law to establish Public toilet in Lafia local government area and other related matters thereto 2023.
Highlighting the substance of the Bill, Hon. Egga lucky Obele said the Bill if passed into law is going to regulate the issues of public toilets and address the challenges of open defecation in places like Motor parks, business environment, market, schools etc.
In their various contributions, Hon. Agidi Bulus Aje, Hon. Jalaludeen Umar, Hon. Bala Alhaji Adamu, Hon. Festus Attah Angadzi and Hon. Bako Abdullahi, all appreciated the Honourable Councilor representing Akurba electoral ward Hon. Egga lucky Obele for his forseight in sponsoring the Bill, assured to give their maximum legislative backing.
The Speaker slated, 19th Sept, 2023 for the second reading of the bill
