MARGIF: ADVISES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH LOW COST HOUSE UNITS TO CUSHION EFFECTS OF ACCOMMODATION IN FCT

The National President of the Farmers Armadillos Guard Alliance FAGA, Chief Yohana Margif has appealed to the Federal Government to create a new district for low income earners in order to ease the accommodation hardship in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Margif who stated this in statement, noted that doing so will go a long way in giving the low income earners a sense of belonging in view of the FCT administration plans to demolish houses built without due process.

He appealed to the FCT administration to allocate lands to those who are ready to develop it, so as to decongest the centre thereby reducing crime and criminality associated with densely populated urban areas

” The rich man cannot stay without the poor man and the poor cannot live without the rich. So we need each other to survive, as the composition of Abuja should not be meant only for the rich ” Margif observed.

He explained that the FCT have enough lands to accommodate people of different classes and urged the federal government to explore more avenues to create new Districts to accommodate the growing influx of people trooping to the nation’s capital on a daily basis.

The former Labour Party Governorship aspirant in the last general elections called on the federal government to be proactive in addressing issues that relates to Nigerians comfort to alleviate the plight of the downtrodden who are yet to recover from the hangover of the last administration.

While appreciating President Bola Tinubu for his policy of equity and inclusiveness , appealed for caution on the issue of demolition of houses in Abuja , noting that the action is capable of eroding the confidence of Nigerians in his administration.

Margif explained that the action of the Minister of the FCT , Nyesom Wike in demolishing illegal structures in the nation’s capital at this point in time when Nigerians are grappling with the effects of the subsidy removal is not only hasty , but ill advised and that his pitch the government against the people.

The National President of Farmers Armadillos Guard Alliance FAGA reminded the federal Government that the demolition of structures in Abuja in 2006 by the former Minister, Nasri El-Rufai is not did not follow due process and any attempt to embark on another round of demolition will only compound issues for the residents of Abuja.

He advised the FCT administration to prioritize creation of more satellite town to accommodate the growing influx of people in Abuja rather than demolishing houses which is capable of inflict more pains on the people.
