Operatives of women and anti domestic violence of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) of the Niger State Police Command, have arraigned a twenty three years old butcher before a Minna senior Magistrate court Nos. Four, for sexual assault of a minor

The presiding senior Magistrate Christy Barau who read the three count charges to the defendant ordered for his remanded in correctional facility having pleaded not guilty to the charges.


The Butcher, Zaiyanu Abdullahi , along with some his friends now at large were alledged to have abducted the minor to his room in Tudun Nasira area of Minna and repeatedly sexually abused her along with some of his friends.

He was standing trial on three count charges which bothered on removal of a child from the custody of parents, Unlawful sexual intercourse With a child and sexual abuse and exploitation.

According to the police prosecutor inspector Godwin Adamu, the count charges contravened section 15 (2), 26 (2) and 27 (2) of Niger State Child right and protection law of Niger State 2021 as amended.

In a police first information report (FIR) made available in court and obtained by the eagle eye that on the 16 of August, 2023, one Mohammed Jiya of Gurara area of reported at Niger State Child Right Agency Minna that on the 8 of June 2023, ” You Zaiyanu Abdullahi aged, 23 years old of Tudun Nasira area of Minna took his 13 years old daughter out of his custody without his consent to your house in Tudun Nasira where she stayed and cohabited with you in your house for three Months.

” After a thorough search the said thirteen years old girll was found to have been living with you in your room at the above address.

” And that while in your room, you Zaiyanu Abdullahi and your name unknown had sexual intercourse with her repeatedly. Police dectetives swang into action and arrested you.

” During police investigation the victim identified you as the person who abducted and took her to your house, and you are among the persons who repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted her with your friends”
the charges sheet, explained.

When the charges were read to him by the presiding senior Magistrate Christy Barau, he pleaded not guilty and the police prosecutor inspector Godwin Adamu told the court that investigation in to the matter has just commenced and he requested for the remand of the defendant pending the completion of the matter.

While granting the request of the prosecutor, Senior Magistrate Christy Barau then ordered for his remand in correctional facility and adjourned the case to 21 of September 2023 for further mention.
