A Sixty Four years old trader of Bosso estate Isah Usman has been remanded in correctional custody for armed robbery on the order of a Minna senior Magistrate court Nos seven sitting at the High court complexe
Isah Usman was arraigned by operatives of the anti robbery squad of the state criminal investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) of the Niger State Police Command for allged robbery.
The presiding Senior Magistrate Hajiya Fati Kabir, who ordered for the remand of the defendant after taken his plea said he should be remanded in correctional custody.
The police arraigned the Sixty Four years old trader on one count charge of armed robbery which contravened section 1 (1) a and b of robbery and firearm special provision Act Cap R11 ltn 2004.
According to charge sheet marked MN/MC7/ CR/ 56/2023. made available in court and obtained by our reporter stated that on the 17 of August 2023, one Naziru Habibi of Pyata village in Bosso local government area reported at Maikunkele divisional police command that ” on the 16 of August 2023, at about 1400 hrs while operating his commercial Bajaj motorcycle with registration MNA 64 UY engine Nos Duxiwint 94394 and Chassis Nos MD 2A18 AX6 WH 11438 along Pyata Junction.
” You Isah Usman of Bosso Estate Minna boarded his motorcycle to Rafin Yashi area at the rate of N200 . On reaching a point before Rafin Yashi you brought out a knife and threatened him to chose between the motorcycle and his life.
“And quickly jumped off the motorcycle for safety of his life while you Isah Usman zoomed off with his motorcycle resulting him to raised an alarm which attracted good Samaritans who chased and got you arrested and you over to the police.
” During police investigation, you confessed to the crime and one sharp knife and empty bottle of fanta and praying mat along with said motorcycle were all recovered from you”
the charge sheet stated.
When the charge was read to him by the presiding senior Magistrate Hajiya Fati Kabir, the defendant pleaded not guilty At this point the police prosecutor Sgt. Sani Mohammed Making told the court that investigation into the matter has just commenced and requested for the remand of the defendant at the correctional custody pending the completion of police investigation.
While granting the prayer of the police prosecutor Senior Magistrate Fati Kabir ordered for his remand and adjourned the case to the 29 of September for further mention.
