Facts on the mass resignation of the state working commitee (SWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Niger State has been revealed.

The State chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress Hon. Haliru Jinkatoro had penultimate Tuesday, put in his resignation letter before the executive of the party in the state followed by the state secretary of the party Barrister Khaleed Paiko and the latest is the state vice chairman of the party Comrade Abdulsalam Madaki.

While , the Zone C.vice chairman of the All Progressive Congress Mallam Abdullahi Bobi has been made to take over as the acting State chairman of the APC with immediate effect.

But the position of the state secretary and the vice chairman is yet to be occupied after the resignation of the two other members of the state working commitee of the party.

However, the Trumpet reliably gathered that the resignation of Hon. Haliru Jinkatoro was linked to the appointment of the former Chief whip of the Senate Senator Abdullahi Sabi into the cabinet of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu which Jikantoro was said to have been tipped for the position.

It was further gathered that the former chairman of the APC was said to have been penciled down for the ministerial nominee by President Bola Tinubu only for him to hear that his name was replaced with Senator Abdullahi Sabi which did not go down well with the former chairman of the party.

Trumpet findings revealed that earlier before the Senator Abdullahi Sabi was nominated, the former secretary of the party and the former chairman of the party, had written a protest letter to President Bola Tinubu to, nominate Hon. Haliru Jikantoro for the ministerial position from Niger State.

Upon receiving the hint of the letter written to the president, it was gathered that governor Mohammed Umar Bago and Senator Mohammed Sani Musa representing Niger East Senatorial district, rushed to the presidency to submit the name Senator Abdullahi Sabi as the Ministerial nominee from Niger State.

At this point, sensing the trouble awaiting them from the governor they duos of the secretary of the party and the chairman quickly tendered their resignation letters to avoid any unforeseen embarrassment from the governor.

A source closed to the party Secretariat who pleaded for annonymity told the trumpet that “we are not surprise with their resignation. Their resignation is long been expected. You know that the Jikantoro led state working commitee work against the emerging of Bago during party primary.
” They all work for Malagi during the primary election. So their resignation is long overdue. The issue of Ministerial nominee is also part of their resignation.
” Jikantoro was eyeing the ministerial slot from Borgu but Senator from the same Borgu was the governor Bago choice” the source told the trumpet in an exclusive interview.

However, when contacted for his comment the state publicity secretary of the party Alhaji Labaran Musa Sarkinkaji explained that their resignation has nothing to do with “what you just said. I’m m not aware of that. All I can tell you as the party Spokeman in Niger is that they resigned their position on personal ground which is their right. ” For you to attach their resignation to the issue of appointment I’m not aware of that ” he told the trumpet in a telephone interview.
