DOKO ROYAL BATTLE: TITLE HOLDER CALLS ON GOV. BAGO TO SET UP AN INVESTIGATIVE PANEL

A Passionate appeal has been made to the governor of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago to constitute a commission of inquiry to investigate the endless royal tursle in DOKO community of Lavun local government area of Niger State.

A traditional title holder in the area Alhaji Kudu Mohammed Jiya made the appeal while speaking with journalists in an exclusive interview in Minna at the weekend.

He said the constitution of the commission of inquiry into the incessant crisis in the area over the years will bring about the lasting peace and security in Doko and its environs.

Alhaji Kudu Jiya, who is the Sarkin Yaki of Doko land noted with the dismay the ceasless crisis that had engulfed the peaceful community over the years called on the state governor Umar Bago to as a matter of necessity to urgently constitute the commission of inquiry to ensure peace in the area.

” Setting up the commission of inquiry in to this matter, will unravel the whole issues and alledgetions against the dethroned village head of Doko.
” The commission of inquiry will also bring about the peace and security in Doko community. We are appealing to the governor of Niger State Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago to set up the commission of inquiry to settle this crisis in Doko once and for all” he stated.


He explained that without the commission of inquiry, the crisis will still continue to be going on without an end to the crisis adding: ” killings and wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent citizens of Doko and its environs will continue unabated”

The traditional title holder noted with disappointment the rules of some prominent individuals of Doko were playing in fuelling the crisis over the years describing the acts as painful

” Our youths, between the ages of 18 to 25 years are in prison for the past ten months without taken them to court for prosecution. All our petitions to the police is not been acted upon.

” When the person funding them write the police in Abuja, Minna police will promptly act and our youths will be arrested and kept in state CID from then they will take them to court and they will be dumped in prison. That is what we have been facing in Doko” he told journalists in an exclusive i

He called on the state governor to as a matter urgency to constitute the commission of inquiry in ensuring the peace and security of the people of Doko, this according to the traditional title holder will forstall peace in the area.

He disclosed that the dethroned village head of Doko, has dragged the state government, the Bida emirate council, the Ministry of local government and chieftaincy affairs and commissioner for justice and the Attorney general of Niger State to Minna High court and he lost the case.

Dissatisfied with the judgement of the Niger State High court he went on Appeal at the court of Appeal in Abuja, yet the court of Appeal dismissed the appeal that the appeal is set aside and he can only be reinstated after due clearance from the weighty allegations.

In the court of Appeal suit No: CA/A68 / 2017 delivered on Friday,the 19th of June 2020 before three Justice of Court of Appeal Justice Stephen Jonah Adah, JCA, Justice Yargata Byenchit Nimpar JCA and Justice Mohammed Baba Idris set aside the appeal.

“This appeal is against the judgement of the Niger State High court delivered on the 15th of December,2016. Given rise to live issues for determination to be founded on such a report.

” I’m of the humble view that resolving the remaining issues could be prejudicial to any subsequent action the Emirate council might want to take on the matter.
” Suffice to say that all step taken upon Bida Emirate council commitee report is (exhibit B2) is null and void for breach of appelant right to fair hearing and is hereby set aside.

” This notwithstanding, the appelant is not reinstated as the Etsu Dazhi of Doko. He can only be reinstated after due clearance from the weghty allegations” according to the judgement








Doko community, has been engulfed with series of lands and royal crisis in the last ten years as all efforts to forstall peace in the community has not yielded the needed result.

Several lives and property have been lost to the endless crisis even as some numbers of youths are languishing in both Minna and Bida prisons
