The National Chairman of Apostle Margif Foundation, Ambassador Yohana Margif has described the squabbles between Department Security Services DSS and the Nigeria Correctional Services NCS at the premises of the Federal High Court, Lagos over who have the right to keep custody of the suspended Central Bank Governor , Godwin Emefiele after been granted bail in the full glare of the public as a national disgrace.
Margif who was reacting to the incident after the video of the fight between the DSS and NCS went viral, disclosed that the show of Shame exhibited by the two security agencies is a clear indication of lawlessness and abuse of power.
He lamented that the action of the two security agencies, has succeeded in showing the world Nigeria’s nakedness and carelessness on security issues and the type of leadership these agencies have.
“If security personnel like DSS and the Correctional Service officials can be involved in such despicable act like motor park touts , then something is fundamentally wrong with our system as a country ” Margif confessed
” Whatever might have been their interest in the suspended CBN Governor, they should not have dragged themselves to the mud openly” he observed.
The National Chairman said Nigerians need more clarification on the matter to ascertain who is at fault between the Federal High Court, the DSS or the NCS and sanction be metted on them appropriately to serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate toying that ignoble path in the future.
Margif stressed that if this is not done, then the common man on the street will feel unsafe and insecure as that will create mixed feelings on the integrity of these two security agencies which clearly indicates that they are ready to do their work.
He stated that Nigeria have many security issues to contend with such as the Boko Haram insurgency, Kidnapping, Banditry , Herders Farmers crisis among others and the same security agencies the people are depending on to protect them are declaring war on each other without recourse to the law of the law .
The Labour Party Governorship aspirant in the 2023 General Election in Plateau State has therefore appealed to the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa to as a matter of urgency, call these security agencies to order , so as to avoid a repeat of this shameful act in the future.
Though authorities of the DSS has come out to say it will investigate its officers who participated in the scuffle, Margif urged the CDS to ensure that those fingered in the incident are dealt with decisively to avoid future national embarrassment.
