The Southern and Northern Nigerian Christian Youth Leadership forum shower commendations on Presidents Bola Tinubu, for supporting the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President of the 10th Senate.
The Youth Group Convener Mr Ekiye Ekiye, conveyed the group’s appreciation during an interview with newsmen in Karu local government area of Nasarawa state.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for responding positively for the yearning and aspiration of the group and other Nigerians who had advocated for a Southern Christian Senate Presidency and a Northern Christian as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
“We thank the president for his open support and the Vice President and everyone who came out boldly to advocate that the position of the Senate President should go to the Southern Nigeria, specifically a christian.
“By the grace of God, his Excellency Sen. God’s Will Akpabio has been elected as the new Senate President of Nigeria. He is a competent hand and experienced person and a man who loves Nigeria,” he said.
He said the appointment of Sen. George Akume, another christian from Northern Nigeria as the SGF was a testament to President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the yearnings of all part of Nigeria and his sensitivity to the religious diversity of Nigeria.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to the President to also bring into his administration young Nigerians who are competent, brilliant, intelligent and have proven themselves to be worthy in their areas of specialization to see how they can add value to the new government.
“That’s one of the ways we can encourage our young ones who are doing well to bring in their wealth of experience to a broader perspective of Nigerian development. I therefore call on Nigerian youths to support President Tinubu to succeed,” he said
Ekiye also expressed the group’s delight with President Tinubu’s decision to sign into law the Student Loan Bill which according to him will enable education to be accessed by all young Nigerians with some in the past failing to complete their education due to financial constraints.
“I call on Nigerian students that having done this good to them, they should reciprocate the gesture by studying their books, shunning cultism and other vices and stop unnecessary protests,” he added.
