BEING A PRESS RELEASE ON THE ELECTION OF NEXT SPEAKER AND PRINCIPAL OFFICERS FOR THE 7TH NASARAWA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

NSHA 7th Speakership Race: why Democracy must prevail …. Election of Speaker NSHA must not be a do or die affairs.
Protocol
Gentlemen of the press
This press conference was organised to tell the people of Nasarawa State on the alarming danger planning by some unpatriotic politicians to truncate not only the good Democratic practices but existing peaceful coexistence enjoying in Nasarawa State.
My dear members of the fourth estate of the realm permit me to start this way .
Former President of America Abraham Lincoln define Democracy as a government of the people, for the people and by the people
This simply explains why Democracy is the best system of government in the world.
The system that provides enabling environment, laws and freedom for the people to choose their leader through the ballot without any sentiment, intimidation, fear or favour, this is called Election.
Therefore in any Democratic contest a winner must emerged as the choosen one.
As Nasarawa State House of Assembly members Elect are preparing to elect their new presiding officers , Democracy must prevail in order to have a credible and acceptable principal officers through a transparent and legitimate process.
As it is the race for Speakership of the soon to be inaugurated 7th Assembly is been keenly contested among three people namely the immediate past speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Hon Daniel Oga Ogazi of Kokona East and Hon Danladi jatau of Kokona West.
Unarguably the trio are qualified to be the Speaker but offcourse only one person can be elected to be the Speaker.
It is however unfortunate that the race for the Speakership is taking a bad dimensions where some resorted to campaign of calumny and blackmail instead of marketing the credibility of their Aspirant.
We therefore want to draw the attention of the people of Nasarawa State that the Election of Speakership is entirely the constitutional responsibility of the members Elect.
However report reaching us is that Gov Abdullahi Sule and the state leadership of APC have favoured the immediate past speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi to go for 3rd term.
Offcourse the Governor and the party can advise and give a direction to members Elect under the party’s platform since it has a minor majority and it is expected that the speaker should come from the ruling APC .
However we must all know that the endorsement is not the end of it or should in anyway denied other aspirants to test their popularity.
This is just an APC affairs so other Aspirants like Hon Daniel Oga Ogazi has the constitutional rights to contest.
Distinguished gentlemen of the press we want to use this press conference to call on Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi A Sule that we believe in him as a Democrat, incorruptible and God fearing leader to allow democracy to prevail during the election of the incoming speaker of Nasarawa State house of Assembly.
We are determined to expose the enemies of the state who either by hook or crook want to cause confusion in the state by orchestrating a plan to hold an illegal inauguration of the 7th Assembly, where only members Elect supporting Balarabe Abdullahi will be allowed into the hallow chamber. we cannot allow this to happen in Shaa Allah.
Your Excellency Sir you are the Chief security officer of the state and you have been demonstrating that in the past four years that is why Nasarawa is among the most peaceful and progressives States in Nigeria.
Therefore the Election of Speaker NSHA must not be a do or die affairs that can thrown the state into anarchy or chaos.
At this juncture we are calling on all security agencies in the state as well as all the good peace loving people of Nasarawa State to shine your eyes and stand up against enemies of the state who are so desperate to get or maintain power at the expenses of the general peace and development of the state.
Come next week Tuesday we want our members Elect to enjoy their constitutional rights in voting their new presiding officers.
To for warn is to for armed
We need peace in Nasarawa, Democracy must prevail and Election of Speaker must not be a do or die Affairs.
