Make hospital administrator minister of health, JOHESU pleads with incoming govt

By Blessing Odega

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) chapter has called on the incoming government to appoint a hospital administrator as the minister of Health.

The chairman of JOHESU JUTH chapter, Mr Adams Ebuga, said this on Thursday in Jos while addressing its members on the planned strike.

He explained that judging from the sector’s history, “medical doctors do not make good administrators and this act has led to the sector’s deplorable state”.

Ebuga said that it would be better if the incoming government would appoint a hospital administrator as minister of Health.

According to him, an administrator would ensure better overhaul of the sector.

Ebuga said that the strike became imperative at the end of the 15- day ultimatum its national body issued the Federal Government.

The chairman mentioned the reasons for the strike as the unimplemented salary review, none-payment of COVID 19 and hazard allowances and the federal ministry of health’s refusal to implement consultancy for pharmacists.
