The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare management Agency ( PLASCHEMA) says it has 110,158 enrollees from the formal and informal sector who access health care through the scheme.

The Director – General of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Fabong Jemchang, said this in Jos, at a stewardship town hall meeting.

Jemcheng said the essence of the meeting was to intimate the public with the Agency’s scorecard of performance in the last four years of its existence and for the public to evaluate its performance.

He said the breakdown consist of 74,008 enrollees in the formal sector and 36,150 enrollees from the informal sector.

According to him, the agency in bid to do away with the issue of “out of stock syndrome ” engaged the services of 26 community pharmacies in the state.

He explained that the instance were by enrollees cannot get drugs from their health care provider, they directed to a community pharmacy close to get the medication.


The D -G, said that the agency has commenced on the spot enrollment and people can now enroll from the comfort of their homes to the scheme without coming physically for enrollment.

He further said that the scheme has made it easy for all especially those in the informal sector to be part of the scheme as they can pay quarterly or twice to be enrolled if they do not have the chunk of the fund for enrollment into the scheme.


The D-G, described the state’s health agency as the biggest social safety net provided by the state government to eliminate out of the pocket expenditure and to improve on the health indices of the people.

He called on the public, who have not enrolled into the scheme to do so as it also served as a means of financial protection for the enrollees.

One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Mr Christopher Dung, said his enrolment into the scheme has helped him stay stable financially as he spends only negligible amount when he goes to access health care .


Another beneficiary, Mrs Joyce Nuhu, an enrollee from the informal sector, thanked the agency for making enrollment easy and flexible.

The Plateau State Contributory Healthcare management Agency was established in 2019, with the sole aim of attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of achieving Universal Health coverage for residents on the Plateau.
