Messy Deals Cripple Niger State Universal Basic Education Board

There is intense inhouse fighting at the Niger state Universal Basic Education Board as the Chairman and other board members lock horns over the shady involving recent contract awarded at the board.
Investigation showed that members of the baord were infuriated over the claim of thr chairman that he sold some of the contracts to help fund the last election in Niger north.
A team of our reporters working with some whistle blowers in the board gathered that members of the board were not convinced the claim of the chairman that he used the proceed of the sales of contracts to fund the Governor’s campaign bid for the zone c senatorial ambition.
“Contracts were awarded for the supplies of tables to Schools and were not supplied, over 40 million naira. The money was released during the process of the electioneering” a whistle blower working with some fraud examiners unknown to the board submitted.
“The money was taken from the BESDA account.The whole furniture work for the 2021 projects was awarded to one person leaving all the local contracts who bided for the job stranded because, money was collected from the contractor long before now before the fund was stepped down”
The report indicated that the contractor they had earlier collected money from threatened to report them to EFCC before they could give him the whole job
The bad blood between the Chairman and members of the board is further compoounded by the style of leadership of the chairman who is not friendly to staff.
He allegedly treats them with disdain and most of their work is been taken over by outsiders.

However, attempt to get the comment of the board proved abortive as some senior journalists tried to shield them.
